What’s the point?
If you believe in God and eternity, then this life is just an unrecognizable speck on the eternity timeline. During this one vapor in time do you need to make the right decision or live the right life to determine the rest of your eternity? It hardly seems fair, does it?
If you are more humanistic and believe in millions of years of evolution, what’s the point of this short blip on the evolutionary timeline? Is the idea to make the right decisions and to live the right life so that humanity a million years from now will have a better life?
Maybe this life is all about those you love and serving your fellow man. Well, the ones you love and your fellow man are just vapors in time as well.
It all seems depressing. Unless…
It’s not about us and this life. Maybe it is all about God and his awesomeness. Maybe it is all about his love for us that calls us to enjoy him, not only during this vapor of life today but in all of eternity? Maybe our main purpose during this short time here is to live in a manner that shows others the awesomeness of God and to share the great news that God wants us to enjoy him, the creator of the universe, for all of eternity.
This time on earth is short but eternity is forever and eternity is not just a hope for when we die. Eternity can start today.
John 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
